Captain's Point
Cornelius, North Carolina
Boater's pocket on a deep-water cove.
The Community
A tight cluster of waterfront homes with covered slips and quick channel access to the main lake.
History
Captain's Point grew up in the late 1990s on a tight, deep-water cove off the Catawba peninsula in Cornelius. The plat was small by design — fewer than twenty waterfront homesites — and centered on covered slip access and quick channel exit to the main lake. Most original buyers were serious boaters who wanted dock-step convenience without the scale of a country-club community.
Lifestyle
Life at Captain's Point is unmistakably boater-first. Mornings start with coffee on the dock, weekends mean early launches before the main-channel traffic, and evenings end with neighbors gathered on shared dock pads watching the sunset over the cove. The social calendar is small and tight — dock cookouts, an unofficial Memorial Day raft-up, and a Fourth of July boat parade that runs the length of the cove.
Architecture
Coastal Carolina and transitional waterfront homes, 3,400–6,200 sq ft on quarter- to half-acre lots. Common details: cedar-shake siding, standing-seam metal roofs, deep covered porches, and screened lakeside living areas. Most homes have private covered slips with lifts.
