Chapter 01
Pontoon, tritoon, or wake boat.
The single decision that shapes the day. A pontoon is a floating porch — stable, shaded, forgiving to drive, and perfect for cruising, sandbar hangs, and groups with small children. A tritoon adds a third hull and real horsepower, which means it will pull a tube and handle chop on the wide water above the bridge. A wake or ski boat exists for one reason: to throw a wake worth riding. Deck boats split the difference, and jet skis are their own category of fun with their own noise and etiquette rules.
- ◆Pontoon — cruising, families, shade, easiest to drive
- ◆Tritoon — cruising plus tubing, handles open water
- ◆Wake / surf boat — surfing, boarding, ballast and a tower
- ◆Ski boat — slalom and tubing, lighter and faster
- ◆Deck boat — hybrid seating and speed
- ◆Jet ski — hourly, high fun, strict wake and zone rules
