History

Master-planned in the early 1990s along a 1,300-acre peninsula on Lake Norman's eastern shore, The Peninsula was the lake's first true country-club community. Anchored by a Rees Jones–designed championship golf course (opened 1993) and a Tom Fazio practice complex, it set the template that every subsequent Carolina lakefront enclave has tried to follow.

Lifestyle

Mornings begin with espresso on the clubhouse veranda, mid-mornings on the practice tee, lunch on the racquet deck, afternoons under sail out of the Peninsula Yacht Club, and dinners that wind from the Grille Room to private docks along Norman Cove. The cadence is unhurried, social, and unmistakably Southern.

Architecture

Stone-and-shingle low-country, Georgian brick, French Country, and a quietly growing collection of contemporary lake-modern homes by Peters Custom Homes. Lots range from interior fairway parcels to deep-water peninsulas with covered double-slip boathouses.
