Chapter 01
Public access, ramp by ramp.
Access on Lake Norman is spread across state, county, and utility-supported sites, plus marina launching. Facilities, fees, and seasonal hours change; confirm with the operating agency before you tow.
| Access | Where | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Lake Norman State Park | Troutman / northern lake | State-managed launch on the quiet upper lake, with parking, restrooms, beach and trail access. Best for paddlers and small craft, and the least chaotic ramp on a July Saturday. |
| Blythe Landing | Huntersville / southern lake | Mecklenburg County park with multiple launch lanes, courtesy docks, trailer parking and picnic areas. Fast access to the wide southern basin — and the busiest ramp on the lake in summer. |
| Ramsey Creek Park | Cornelius | The county's public park with a swim beach, kayak launch and shoreline access on the eastern shore near Cornelius. Popular with paddlers and families. |
| Stumpy Creek Park | Mooresville / mid-lake | Iredell County access point on the eastern mid-lake with launch lanes, trailer parking and shoreline fishing. Convenient to the Mooresville coves. |
| Pinnacle Access Area | Mooresville / mid-lake | Wildlife-agency style access serving the mid-lake channel. Simple facilities, good for anglers heading to open water. |
| Beatties Ford Access Area | Huntersville / western shore | Public access on the Beatties Ford Road corridor with launch lanes and gravel trailer parking. Handy to the southwestern coves. |
| Little Creek Access | Sherrills Ford / Catawba County | West-side access serving the Sherrills Ford and Terrell shoreline. Convenient launch for the western arms. |
| Marina courtesy launches | Lakewide | Several full-service marinas offer launching, transient slips, fuel and haul-out for guests and members. Fees and hours vary, and access is typically not public in the same sense as a county or state ramp. |
