Bella Vista

History

Bella Vista was developed in the early 2000s on a deep, sheltered cove in Denver — one of the western shore's most visually distinct communities. The original developer, inspired by time on the Amalfi Coast, required Mediterranean architectural vocabulary: stucco exteriors, terracotta tile roofs, arched windows, and wrought-iron balconies. The result is a small, boutique enclave that looks nothing like the rest of Lake Norman.

Lifestyle

Life at Bella Vista unfolds at a slower, more European pace: espresso on the terrace in the morning, a midday swim in the infinity pool, an afternoon paddle on the cove, and dinner al fresco on the screened loggia. The culture is tight-knit and design-conscious — owners are typically well-traveled executives and empty-nesters who chose the community specifically for its aesthetic difference from the lake's dominant traditional vernacular.

Architecture

Mediterranean and transitional custom homes, 4,000–7,500 sq ft on half- to one-acre waterfront lots. Standard details: smooth stucco facades, barrel-tile or flat-tile roofs, arched doorways and windows, wrought-iron balcony railings, and courtyard entries. Outdoor living includes infinity pools, covered loggias with outdoor kitchens, and terraced landscaping. Most homes feature private covered double-slip boathouses.
