Stutts Marina

History

Stutts Marina grew up around a working family marina on the eastern shore of Lake Norman in Mooresville — one of the few remaining privately owned marinas that predates the lake's modern luxury era. In the 1990s and 2000s, the surrounding land was platted for waterfront homes, with the understanding that the marina would remain the community's working heart: fuel, storage, slips, and a culture organized around hulls in the water.

Lifestyle

Life here is unmistakably boater-first. Mornings start with a walk to the marina store for coffee and bait; weekends mean launching before dawn, washing the boat at the community washdown, and grilling on the dock while the sun sets over the main channel. The social fabric is tight — dock parties, poker runs, and an annual regatta that draws boats from across the lake. Households skew boating families, fishing enthusiasts, and retirees who bought their last boat before their last house.

Architecture

Coastal Carolina and transitional waterfront homes, 3,200–6,500 sq ft on quarter- to half-acre lots. Common details: cedar-shake or board-and-batten siding, standing-seam metal roofs, deep covered porches, and screened lakeside living areas. Most homes have private covered slips with lifts; the remainder have deeded slips in the community marina.
